Vice President of Finance

As our Vice President of Finance and member of the Wheeler Leadership Team you will be a trusted leader of our finance and accounting team, responsible for working directly with the CEO and other leadership team members to execute against companywide goals and responsibilities including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis, pricing strategies and other growth-oriented tasks. You will work directly with our executive leadership team, board, and external parties to lead key drivers of growth and improve efficiencies, adding value across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end annual budgeting and revenue/cash forecasting processes, working across departments to develop the budget, track progress and variances during the year, owning key leadership decisions on cost structure as growth plans are executed.
- Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO and executive team, contributing to long-term strategic planning.
- Work with functional leaders including Business Development, Marketing, Operations, R&D and others to identify and report key measures of optimization and efficiency in the business.
- Drive all financial planning and analysis efforts to identify growth opportunities and cost efficiencies, including optimizing pricing and margins across service lines.
- Support organic and inorganic innovation initiatives through financial modeling.
- Support to business development through deal support and pricing strategy.
- Lead longer-term and annual organizational and strategic planning processes to drive business scalability and growth through new business opportunities, strategic investments, and organizational optimization.
- Ensure adherence to local and federal regulations, including tax laws, industry-specific requirements, Financial Statement preparation and audit clearance. Prepare and present financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
- Develop and evolve KPIs and metrics to track ongoing business financial performance, including for recurring weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to the executive leadership team and board.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks to safeguard the organization’s assets.
- Leadership of short term cash management and support future debt and equity fund raising.
- In collaboration with the Chief Commercial Officer, maintain pipeline and backlog reporting.
Candidate Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are often preferred.
- Prior experience managing and / or evaluating budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Prior experience working with PE/VC/Family Office investors is a plus.
- Advanced analytical and modeling skills with deep experience in Excel and financial modeling, willingness to utilize and apply other data analysis applications as you see fit.
- Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems (Netsuite, Salesforce).
- Concise and thoughtful verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with the board.
- A hands-on, take charge financial professional with strong financial and analytical skills.
- Highest level of integrity and dependability comfortable working in a deadline-based environment.
